 If You are a Cruise Ship Passenger and want to go rafting, there are 3 options available, and all include transport from the Port of Tauranga, information details follow.....

Tour one: Rangitaiki River Rafting – adventurous grade 3-4 whitewater rafting.

Port of Collection/Return: Tauranga

Tour Description: This Rangitaiki River Rafting Adventure offers an incredible 2 hours whitewater journey featuring 14 kilometres of exciting grade 3-4 rapids. At times relaxing, at other times keenly adventurous and challenging. Suitable for all confidence levels including those who have never rafted before. The Rangitaiki River runs through spectacular native bush and planted  forest.

Tour Inclusions:  Transport from Port of Tauranga return,  we travel through the city of Rotorua and on to the village of Murupara, located on the banks of the Rangitaiki River. Qualified and experienced Guides. Life-jackets and Helmets which are compulsory to wear while rafting, and wetsuits, wetsuit booties and spray-jackets which are optional – if participants prefer not to wear a wetsuit they can wear board shorts over a swimsuit, and if they prefer not to wear wetsuit booties they can bring their own strap on sandals.

Tour Meal / Snack / Refreshment: Refreshments provided after rafting – ham/salad roll, fruit, cookies, tea, coffee and juice. Can cater for vegetarian, vegan and food allergies if advised prior.

Tour Departure/Return Times: can be adjusted to suit Ship berthing time.

Tour Travel Duration: 2 hours travel time from the Port of Tauranga to our rafting base at Murupara, 4 hours required there to complete the rafting and formalities, then 2 hours travel time returning to the Port of Tauranga.

Tour Duration: up to 8 hours total away from the Port of Tauranga

Tour Age Limitation: Minimum age 8 years old for the grade 3 section (10 kilometres of rafting) and 10 years old for the grade 4 section (14 kilometres of rafting). No maximum age but participants must be reasonably agile.

Tour Practical Information (Clothing type Bottled Water Etc): Clients need to wear comfortable clothing for travel. Bring a towel to dry off after rafting (showers are available). Bring a swimsuit, and board-shorts and strap on sandals if they prefer to wear these. Bring an adequate supply of their medication if required.

Tour two:  Rangitaiki River Rafting – relaxing grade 2 scenic whitewater rafting.

Port of Collection/Return: Tauranga

Tour Description: The grade 2 section of the Rangitaiki River offers 1.5 hours of enchanting introductory rafting suitable for first timers, families with young children and the mature adventurer, who want to experience a relaxing river rafting journey in the great outdoors. This fun for all adventure entails over 10 kilometres of stimulating and fun-filled introductory grade 2 white water rapids with plenty of time to appreciate the beauty of your surroundings.

Tour three: Kaituna River Rafting

Port of Collection/Return: Tauranga

Tour Description: Exhilarating and Adrenalin pumping grade 5 whitewater action. The Kaituna River boasts the highest commercially rafted waterfall in the Southern Hemisphere. This 7 metre drop of thundering whitewater is 100% pure adrenalin buzz. Apart from the big ‘waterfall’, the Kaituna rafting adventure offers 14 rapids in 45 minutes, through picturesque and narrow, winding tree lined gorges steeped in Maori history.

Tour Inclusions (Primary points of interest): Transport from Port of Tauranga return,  we travel through the town of Te Puke and on to the village of Okere Falls, located on the banks of Lake Rotoiti where the Kaituna River Rafting trip starts. Qualified and experienced Guides. Life-jackets and Helmets which are compulsory to wear while rafting, and wetsuits, wetsuit booties and spray-jackets which are optional – if participants prefer not to wear a wetsuit they can wear boardshorts over a swimsuit, and if they prefer not to wear wetsuit booties they can bring their own strap on sandals.
